I Heart Faces-Beach Photos

This week's challenge on I Heart Faces is
BEACH.
Since most of you who read this blog know we had a fabulous trip to Michigan this summer.  Here are my two beautiful babysitters (yes they are sisters) Kalie and Gracie hanging out on the beach at Lake Michcigan.

First Day

Today was Sonya's first day of school.  Really it was an intro day for parents and the kids.  The real deal is on Monday, but I talked it up to get her excited.  When Sonya walked into her classroom, she couldn't even speak.  It is amazing!!  There is a wooden play kitchen, play-dough table, easels set up with chalk, a train table, puppets, dress up cabinet, shelves with books and a tree house.  That's right, a tree house in the classroom.  There is even more to see and do, but I didn't want to overwhelm her on the first day.  I wanted to make sure my girl was OK.  I needed to follow her lead to make sure she was comfortable, and once she got a princess dress on it was smooth sailing.  We are so excited for this school year, and I think Sonya is too.
Here she is on her first day.
She said I could only take one picture, but I tried to take a few more.
This was the result.
Her backpack is too cute with her initials on it, and it is her favorite color blue, of course.
Her little legs in a big chair at Chapel.
Finally a smile for mama.
Here is to a great year big girl!!

My Girl

Sonya starts school this week.  I am so excited, not just for the break, but she is ready.  Her imagination has just exploded lately.  That definitely has presented its challenges.  Her lack of listening has been out of control because her brain is moving a mile a minute.  It is also fun at the same time see and hear what crazy things she comes up with.
Here is a list of what she has been up to:
  • She is constantly a different character.  Princess Fiona, Cinderella, Ruddles the Clown, Helen Parr, etc.  Then she will assign different characters to the family.  Josh Mr. Incredible, Me Prince or Elastagirl, Teddy mostly baby crocodile.
  • She likes to be a mermaid at the pool.
  • She changes her outfit at least 10 times a day.  Really, rotating the same four dresses with either a swimming suit or leotard thrown in there, and her two frilly skirts.

  • This is one of her favorite outfits, a coconut bra and a skirt.  And yes, she is posing on a trash can.
  • She LOVES the Glee soundtrack.  She especially loves Rachel Berry, Rachel's daddy (Finn, that is how she refers to boys when girls are in love with them), and Rachel's mama ( the Idina Menzel character).  Whenever she wants to listen to Don't Stop Believing, she asks for "dun dun dun."  Then she has to run to put on her "dun dun dun" dress and shoes, so she looks like Rachel.

  • Notice the strap hanging in the back.  She started turning her dress to make it look like a halter, like what Rachel wheres in the season finale.  Her other favotite Glee songs are: Bad Romance, Shout It Out Loud, Poker Face, and Defying Gravity.
  • Her new favorite shows are Yo Gabba Gabba and Fresh Beat Band.
  • She has turned my pink snuggie into a fancy gown.  She puts her body through the sleeve, which fits her perfect and then she has a long "beautiful" train behind her.  This ensemble also doubles as a mermaid costume.
  • The other day, her twisty straw became a trumpet, a guitar, and then a microphone.
  • She loves getting a booty scratch.  Yes, that is exactly how it sounds.  She lays down and has me scratch her butt.
  • She has been very into her hair lately.  Always wanting to feel it on her back.  I can see why, look at that hair.

  • The other day she was eating and apple and got to the core saw the seeds and asked, "Is that coffee in my apple?"  She LOVES to eat coffee beans.
  • When she goes to bed at night she likes the door to her room, "Cracked like an egg."
  • Blue is still her favorite color, and she will tell you about 1,000,000 times a day.
  • She likes to match what am I wearing.  Like both wearing dresses, or the same color shirt, and so on.
  • She still loves to paint herself.
I am so proud of my girl.
I can't wait to see how she grows mentally, physically, and spiritually this year.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE her.

    Raccoon Tales

I am starting a new post called Raccoon Tales, since I keep finding Sonya rummaging around in our pantry looking for snacks.
Today was no different, and the snack of choice was kettle corn.
Too bad my kitchen has terrible light, but I have to capture these moments.
I asked her to make her silly face.  Here it is.

I wish I could say that is where the scrounging ended today.
Later, I found her standing on the counter eating Josh's stash of Oreos.
I asked her how many she ate and she she said three.
So I checked the package, and this is what I found.
I found cookies, but no cream.
That is right, she licked all of the cream out of the center of the Oreos and left the cookie part in the box.
    Ridiculous.
I really laid down the law with all rummaging today, so hopefully this will come to an end.
There will also be a lock put on the pantry.
I have to say, this face just kills me, chocolate mouth and all.

    I Heart Faces

I Heart Faces is a blog I have been following for a couple of months, and I have never entered a photo.  Honestly it is because I couldn't do it anonymously, all of you would know.  HA!  So this is the week I begin my journey with I Heart Faces, with the theme being
    "Gotta Wear Shades"
This is a photo I have posted on here on my friend Gina and her son Wyatt on the beach in Michigan.
I love that she is shushing him and he is sucking his thumb.
Such a sweet moment between a mama and her boy.
