Make Up

Back in my younger days I used to love make up.  I used to read make up books, I loved putting it on people.  I wasn't even that good, but I had lots of fun doing it.  These days I rarely wear make up, maybe a little concealer and mascara.  The other day I was getting ready for a wedding and I was taking my time putting my make up on, channeling my younger self, and trying to really look fancy.  Sonya desperately wanted to join in, but I did not have the time to indulge her.  Since then she has been asking to wear the "pink make up."  This some what yucky morning seemed to be the prime time because TR was down for a nap.

First let me show the condition of my make up bag

 Cluttered, covered in eye shadow and powder, and filled with OLD make up.

Did I mention my bag is a Enfamil free sample travel bag?

Here are a few of the colors Sonya used.

I think her technique is amazing.

Every girl know she needs to check herself in the mirror as she goes along.

When she looked in the mirror she started talking to herself and said,

"Wook, I have colors and wips.  So beautiful."

Then my bronzer got dropped on accident, and make up time ended.  

Pretty fun morning with the big girl.  

I love watching her grow and seeing more and more of her personality.  She is a girly girl, but still loves to be rough and tumble.  

I love being along for the ride with this girl!!

Strawberry (Blueberry) Muffins

I have had this muffin recipe sitting in food file forever, and I finally decided to make it.  This recipe is courtesy of Cary.  She usually makes these muffins with strawberries, but I had some blueberries on hand so that is what we used.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup whole wheat flour

2 tbsp ground flaxseed (optional)

2 tbsp wheat germ (optional)

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

2 eggs

1 cup plain yogurt

1/4 cup melted butter

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup of the berry of your choice (I used frozen mini blueberries)

1. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.
2. In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, and baking soda.
3. In a separate bowl mix eggs, yogurt, butter, and vanilla.
4. Toss berries into dry mixture.
5. Pour wet mixture into dry mixture, and fold ingredients together.
6. Spoon THICK batter into paper lined muffin tin.
7. Bake 15-20 minutes or until done with toothpick test.

Check this scrumptiousness out.

Everything is better with a little butter on it.

The Carnival

Growing up in Webster the Fourth of July is a pretty big deal.  There is a four day carnival, fireworks, BBQs, Miss Webster Pageant, and a parade.  I love the small town feel of this time of year.  The carnival has gotten pricey over the past couple of years, but the first night is "wristband" night.  You pay $25 for your wristband and ride unlimited all night long, perfect for a three year old.  

The first ride Sonya wanted to go on was the giant tiger bouncy slide.  We waited in line for about ten minutes.

When it was finally Sonya's turn she climbed all the way to the top, and freaked out.

The gentleman taking tickets had other kids climb up and try to get her to go, but that did not work.  I had to climb half way up the ladder to get her to come down.  
Fail.
We decided to try some different rides that were not as tall.  The motorcycle ride was the perfect place to try again.  Sonya rode with her friend Bobby D. from school.  Bobby D.'s mom said she looked like Miss Webster as she rode because she just waved at us the whole time.

Sonya rode a bunch of the kiddie rides all night, but my girl had a need for speed.  My dad wanted to ride the Tilt-A-Whirl with my sister and I, but I said no.  I can not ride that kind of stuff anymore, but Sonya decided to take my place.  That's right my three year old daughter rode the Tilt-A-Whirl and LOVED it.

Sonya was so excited when we walked to the car that she was just running in circles.

Then she stopped dead in her tracks, and saw the ferris wheel all lit up and said,
"Wow, wook at all dose colors!"

We had a really fun night.  It was great to see so many familiar faces, Josh said it was like a big "family" reunion.  

I love our town!!

The Zoo with Gotcha

Gagi is in town this week, so we headed to the zoo with Sonya, Stella, and Teddy.  Catieo had to work.  We also met up with Cary, Winnie, and Rush at the monkey house and made our way through the old part of the zoo, my favorite part.  We went to Big Cat Country where the King of the Jungle was taking a snooze.

Cary and Gagi took the big girls on the carousel for a special treat.  I LOVE the animals on the carousel at the zoo.  I want to make it goal to photograph all 64 hand carved animals through out my life.

I stayed back with the little guys during the ride.  

I don't think they cared.

Since Rush is so cute, here are a couple more of him.

We rounded out our trip by going through the penguin house, looking at the bears, and a train ride around the zoo.

  Stella was real trooper walking while we were there, but sometimes she needed a little love from Gagi.

We had great day at the zoo with our friends.  

The next day Cary texted me what Winnie said which was, 

"Cake didn't go to the zoo.  Just Gotcha."
